New CEO at AS “UniCredit Bank” in the Baltic countries

  • Juris Jakobsons leaves AS "UniCredit Bank"
  • Ralf Cymanek, COO at UniCredit Bank Hungary will become new CEO

Juris Jakobsons is leaving AS "UniCredit Bank" in the Baltic countries. Mr Jakobsons has been CEO of AS "UniCredit Bank" since 2005. He will leave the bank at his own request in order to continue his career outside the Group.

Mr Jakobsons' position will be taken over by Ralf Cymanek, who will be the new CEO, after the approval of all relevant authorities. Mr Cymanek has been Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Board at UniCredit Bank Hungary since 2005 and joined UniCredit Bank in the Baltic countries in the beginning of November.

Mr Cymanek has started his career within the Group in 2000 as a founding board member of Planet Home, part of HVB Group. In 2003 he moved to Vienna and took over the position as Head of Department Operations Management CEE at former Bank Austria Creditanstalt. Before joining the Group Mr Cymanek worked as Engagement Manager in the Business Technology Office at McKinsey & Company and as Manager at Andersen Consulting. Mr Cymanek was born in Germany. He studied Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest.

"Mr Jakobsons has made a great contribution to UniCredit Bank. He was one of the architects of the new UniCredit Bank. We wish him all the best for his future career. With Mr Cymanek we have found an excellent successor, who has been working within our CEE network for several years now and is an excellent example of our know-how sharing across national borders. This is what makes us different from our competitors." says Erich Hampel, Chairman of Bank Austria and the CEE region within UniCredit Group.
